Stuff that weighs 84 pounds
Hello my loyal readers. As many of you know, every 10 pounds or so I do a reality check article that compares the amount of weight that I've lost to other items of the same weight. I do this in order to give you (and me) some perspective on just how far I've come.
Here's a list of all the such articles from the past...
- Stuff that weighs 34 pounds
- Stuff that weighs 42 pounds
- Stuff that weighs 52 pounds
- Stuff that weighs 62 pounds
- Stuff that weighs 74 pounds
Now that I have reached 84 pounds it is that time again! So let's take a look at a few things that weigh 84 pounds.
For the purposes of their Adult CPR class the American Red Cross considers any child over 84 pounds to be an adult.
This beautiful male Siberian lynx comes in at 84 pounds. Just how do you get him to stand on a scale without him ripping off your arm?
This Phantom 3-Wheel Scooter from Drive costs nearly $2,000. It comes with an on board battery charger with easy to remove batteries, comfortable seat with flip back, adjustable width arms, and has a top speed of 4 mph. Total weight....84 pounds!
Here's a video from 'Maury'....
WARNING: You might find this disturbing...it upsets me to no end....
Designed by John Browning during World War I, the Browning .50 caliber machine gun was heavily used in WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. And is still in wide use to day.
While the weight that I lost was only going to kill ME, this killing machine and I have something in common....
It weighs 84 pounds and I've lost 84 pounds.![]()
Here's a much happier machine...the Hi Mountain Jerky Smoker. With its double wall construction it has insulation tested to 1000 degrees. And its moisture escape-proof door traps flavor from escaping.
Imagine the culinary wonders you could create with this baby!

Best known for her role as Wednesday Addams in 'The Addams Family' and 'Addams Family Values', Christina Ricci got her weight down to 84 pounds for her role as Rae in the 2007 movie 'Black Snake Moan'.
Shown here with Samuel L. Jackson...
NOTE: Recently, Ricci was also appeared in 'Speed Racer' as Speed's plucky girlfriend, Trixie. A great movie for gamers, comic book readers, fan boys, anime freaks, and people that just enjoy great FXs. And burn on the critics that boo'ed this movie....I LIKED IT.
Anyway, that's all for stuff weighing 84 pounds....
Token Fat Guy: The Younger Years...
One of the best things about doing this blog is I can turn back time and find out what I was doing last week, last month...or even last year. Want to see what TFG was writing about last May? The bit about Homer Simpson was pretty funny. Check it out!
Well that's all for this week. Remember to drive careful...especially if your dog is in the back.![]()

ROCK. ON. I love your comparisong for "stuff that weighs 84 pounds." Somehow, being able to visualize the loss makes it all the more satisfying. I used to do my comparison against 50 pound feed bags, as I hauled enough of these when I was a kid. The heft of that weight has never left my memory...
Since you mentioned you're all about running, there's a new device that Nike invented that I think is the coolest thing I've ever seen. I'm considering getting one for myself since I'm getting back into running.

Take care, and keep up the awesome work!
Rob - great work on the weight. Just think - there are even more things that you could be doing instead of working out. This particular one made me chuckle pretty well: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24604338/?GT1=43001
Enjoy!
